Hokm online — the Persian trick-taking card game

Hokm is Iran's favourite card game: four players in two teams race to win seven tricks, with a trump suit chosen by the hakem. Miz Hokm lets you play it online for free — with real players, with friends, or against strong bots.

How to play Hokm

1. Teams: four players; you partner the player opposite you.
2. The hakem: cards are dealt face up until someone gets an ace — that player is the hakem.
3. Trump: the hakem looks at their first five cards and picks the trump suit; then everyone gets 13 cards.
4. Tricks: the hakem leads. You must follow suit if you can; if you can't, you may trump or discard.
5. Winning: highest trump wins the trick, otherwise the highest card of the suit led. First team to seven tricks wins the round; a 7–0 round (kot) is worth more. First to seven points wins the game.
